Itinerary

Day 1: Meet in Wellington where you will spend the first night getting to know your guides and fellow adventures for the week. This includes a team dinner to break the ice and introduce you to some classic Kiwi food.

Day 2: Enjoy a Weta Cave tour, the movie studio that brought us The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. After lunch you will visit the national museum of New Zealand, Te papa. Te Papa is loads of fun with many interactive games and exhibitions for all ages.

Day 3: After breakfast, jump on the bus for the drive to Taupo. Upon arrival in Taupo you’ll visit the Huka Falls, the largest waterfall by volume of water in New Zealand. After you’ve marvelled at the 220,000 litres of water flowing under your feet every second, we’ll get you settled into your accommodation for the night.

Day 4: After breakfast, you’ll go for a scenic cruise on the great Lake Taupo and take in the famous Maori carvings which are only visible by boat. After lunch, jump on the bus and we’ll take you through to Rotorua, the cultural heart of New Zealand. Whilst in Rotorua, get up close and personal with the Maori culture when you visit a Marae or Maori meeting house.

Day 5:You’ll visit a farm park and see some of our furry friends as well as walking through the redwood forest and then find your way out of a maze. After the day’s fun-filled activities, we will have a farewell dinner as it is our last dinner together.

Day 6: After breakfast, you head north to Hobbiton, the famous village where the hobbits live in the movies. After a tour of Hobbiton, you’ll continue north to Auckland where your North Island Explorer concludes. We will get you back to your families in time for the Easter long weekend.
